How to Dry Off a Soaked iPhone (Don’t Use Rice)

Accidentally dropping your iPhone in water can be a terrifying experience. However, you don’t have to panic and reach for a bag of rice just yet. While rice has been a popular method for drying out wet electronics, there are better alternatives that can help save your soaked iPhone.

Here are some steps you can take to dry off a soaked iPhone:

  1. Turn off the iPhone: If your iPhone is still on after being submerged in water, immediately power it off to prevent any short circuits.
  2. Remove the SIM card: Take out the SIM card tray and remove the SIM card to prevent any damage to the internal components.
  3. Wipe off excess water: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe off any excess water on the exterior of the iPhone.
  4. Use a desiccant: Instead of rice, consider using a desiccant such as silica gel packets or uncooked instant rice. Place the iPhone in a sealed container with the desiccant for at least 24 hours to absorb moisture.
